Elisabeth Rhyne

Monoprints, block printing and mixed media

Most of my work is made with rubber stamps that I carve by hand and then print and embellish with paint or collage. I was drawn to stamps initially to make geometric patterns. I am interested in the power of repetition with variations to hint at stories. Bits of narrative emerge spontaneously as I work; they are often mysterious or whimsical.
