Eligibility and Theme

All artists participating in the AVAST 2026 tour may include one piece. Consider submitting a piece that represents the theme “Off the Grid” – grids as tools for finding locations or arranging visual arts composition, and being off the grid as a metaphor for escaping the over-connected world or enjoying down-time.

Timeline

• Aug 11: Revised entry deadline

• Sept 2: Drop off at the Barry Gallery, 10:00 am to noon

• Sept 3: Exhibit open to the public

• Opening hours:

  • Mon-Thurs 10:00 am – 8:00 pm

  • Friday-Sat: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

  • Closed Sundays

• Sept 12, 3:30 - 5:00 pm: Informal meet-up to see the exhibit at the Barry Gallery

• Oct 14, 5:00 -7:00 pm: Artist talk and reception

• Oct 28: Last day of Exhibit (note new date)

• Oct 29: Pickup 10:00 am to noon (note new date)

Location

The Barry Gallery is on Marymount’s main campus at 2807 N Glebe Rd., inside the Reinsch Library. Entrance to the library is on 26th St, next to the entrance to Marymount's parking garage. On-street parking is also available on 26th St and Yorktown Blvd.

Requirements

Both 2D and 3D works can be submitted. To accommodate all pieces, we request that wall-hung work be not more than 24” wide, including any frame, and that pedestal work be no wider or deeper than 12”. For alternate installation or floor-based work, email us for feasibility. Works must be prepared for hanging: Photographs and works on paper must be framed. Frames, work on canvas, and work on panel should have wire attached.

Pricing

It is up to the artist to state whether their work is for sale and if so, to set the price. Sales will be handled by artists. AVAST will put interested buyers in contact with the relevant artist. No commission will be charged by AVAST or Barry Gallery.

Notes

By submitting your work, you give permission for AVAST to use the image in promotional material, with credit given to the artist. On drop-off you will be asked to sign an agreement with Marymount regarding the loan of your work. All work is submitted at your own risk. Neither Marymount nor AVAST is responsible for any damage.
