Mara Flynn

Mara Flynn is an artist living in Arlington, Virginia. Always seeking to improve her practice, she studies with well-known local artists at the Art League of Alexandria, Falls Church Arts, and McLean Project for the Arts, as well as online with artists around the world. Working mostly in acrylics, Mara paints impressionistic landscapes, seascapes, and florals using colors that reflect the natural world. Her pieces range from a brilliant flower garden or vibrant lake sunset, to a more subtle sunny beach day or a copse of beech trees in winter. She particularly enjoys exploring the play of light on water at different times of day. Mara also loves creating abstract pieces using bold colors, and occasionally oil pastels, to express emotions and memories and explore new experiences. In addition to nature, she draws inspiration from her life experiences, emotions, imagination, and travel. Mara has been accepted into local and national juried shows and has created commissioned work for a local interior designer’s clients as well as her own clients. She is a member of Falls Church Arts in Falls Church, VA, and regularly exhibits at its gallery. She has also exhibited at Del Ray Artisans in Alexandria, VA, Artists in Middleburg in Middleburg, VA, Arlington Visual Arts Studio (AVAST) in Arlington, VA, and Guild Hall Cultural Institute in East Hampton, NY.
