Small Collage Sampler

I've worked in Collage and 3D Assemblage, for over 20 years. For me, endless expressive possibilities, and out- of -the- box narrative communication are the challenges and gifts of mixed media artmaking.
Early In 2024, I began working on one- of- a- kind Art Journals comprised of about 80 small collages in book form. Some have specific themes: a special trip; Thanksgiving; women's roles through history, and some just celebrate a specific color or place. As I continue to explore meaningful themes and use the techniques I have developed in this new format, I've had new skills to develop too: bookbinding, and making natural dyes from substances such as avocados and rust. I'm currently working in a 2.5"x 3.5" scale. These small works can be difficult to get your hands into and make a statement with, but that is why I like them.
