Repetition is usually the first word that comes to my mind when describing nature, and yet those little repeated forms can be quite different from one another. I love bringing those together to make icons that bring on lives of their own.

Inspired by the feminist art movement, Jan Aiello's work explores themes of intimacy, vulnerability and care. Her experience as a mother and Breast Cancer survivor directs her attention to the more delicate forms we see in nature, and how like us, they gather, suffer, thrive, and regenerate.
